THE DRAGON PLAY

Scene 1 - Opening (Rory and Oona/Emerald’s Entrance)
(The show begins with a forest scene outside Princess Oona’s palace. She is going to bed.)
Queen Amethyst: (Offstage) Goodnight, Oona.
Oona: Goodnight, mom.
(The queen leaves the room and closes the door. Suddenly, Oona hears footsteps and looks out the window.)
Rory: (desperately) Oona! Princess Oona! Are you here?!
Oona: Of course I am, you moron! What are you doing here, Prince Rory?! Not to sing me the seventy-second love song, I hope. Yes, I’ve been counting.
Rory: Actually, no.
Oona: (sarcastic) Surrrrre.
(Rory huffs angrily.)
Rory: Oona, I’m here for once on important matters. Even though I would like to earn your hand in marriage, I’m here to-
Oona: Will you just leave me alone for once?! I need to get some sleep!
Rory: No matter what you say, my love, I need to reach the queen. You see, I’ve been sent to-
Oona: Woah, woah, woah, did you just call me “MY LOVE?” (Oona smacks Rory back angrily.) Get out of here, you creep!
Rory: FIne! I’ll get in there myself! This message is really important!
Oona: Not if I can help it! (Oona pushes Rory, but Rory impulsively holds Oona’s hand. They both yell and fall over together offstage.)
(Set shifts to a castle room. Emerald holds a broom and sweeps sadly, sighing as she goes.) Queen Amethyst enters.)
Queen Amethyst: Emerald, darling, when you’re done with Tourmaline’s room, will you please clear her dinner plate as well?
Emerald: Mom, do I need to? I already cleared Oona’s and Patrick’s and Celline’s and Ruby’s and Peridot’s! Can’t Tourmaline clean her own plate?
(Queen Amethyst glares at Emerald. She jumps.)
Queen Amethyst: Emerald, when I say to do something, you do it. Is that understood?
Emerald: No, mother, I DON’T understand! You don’t treat my siblings this way! Is it because I’m not your real kid like they are?!
(Queen Amethyst is turned off and wide-eyed.)
Queen Amethyst: Do my bidding, or it will be the dungeon for you, young lady!
Emerald: Yes, mom….
(The queen exits angrily, leaving Emerald alone in her room.)
*Que: Emerald’s Solo.*
Scene 2: Meleodia
(Oona and Rory are in the middle of the forest. They stand and dust themselves up. They look around, not knowing where they are.)
Oona: Rory!
Rory: Oona, I’m sorry! I- *sigh*. I know you don’t like me, but I really needed to tell the queen the news! Only the royal fire dragons know about it!
Oona: I doubt it. (shakes her head.)
Rory: You know the way back to the palace, right? You can go home, and I can tell Queen Amethyst the news.
Oona: Like I will just let you into the castle? I still don’t trust you! You come to me every day just to try and date me! Red flag, man! And I want to choose who I marry. You aren’t that person!
But mom is so strict, and…
Rory: She wants you to marry me? I just come because I like you!
(The dragons hear the flapping of large, moth-like wings above them. They look up to the sky, and Meleodia enters.)
Meleodia: Aww! Haha! Adorable. Are the two lovebirds in a predicament?
Oona: NOT LOVERS! (moves away from Rory disgustedly.)
Rory: Who are you? Can you help us get back to the crystal palace? See, my friend here is the princess, and we need to get back. I’m a prince and a messenger.
Oona: (to Rory, whispering) Don’t tell her we’re royalty!!
Rory: (to Oona) Why not?
Meleodia: Why leave so quickly? You can come to my lair if you’d like!
Oona: Just who are you?
*Que: Meleodia’s Song*
Rory: (clapping) That was amazing! We’d love to come to your lair!
(Meleodia bows. Oona is mistrustful.)
Oona: Your lair sounds lovely, Meleodia, but we really do need to go home.
Meleodia: Oh, is that so?
Oona: I’m afraid it is. Now if you would point us to the castle, I would greatly appreciate it.
Meleodia: (chuckles and grins darkly) Unfortunately for you, those meddling forest creatures were right. I’m more dangerous than you might think.
Oona: So am I!
Meleodia: Oh, really? Try me.
(Oona rushes toward Meleodia, but she doesn’t flinch a muscle. She pushes Oona back.)
Rory: Don’t hurt the princess!
Meleodia: I do what I please, fire prince!
(Meleodia hums her song gleefully, wrapping the dragons in white spider string.)
Rory: Did this come from your bottom?
Oona: Rory, don’t be rude!
Meleodia: It did indeed come from my bottom! (Oona makes belching noises.) Pfft! No! I’m a moth dragon! Since when do moths weave webs? (laughs at the idea.)
Oona: What are you going to do, leave us here?!
Meleodia: Well, we’ll see how you handle! Wait…where is my locket?
Oona & Rory: Locket?
Meleodia: I…I must find it! (Meleodia rushes offstage in search of her locket.)
Rory: Hang on, Oona, I’ll get you out of there!
Oona: And how do you plan to do that?
(Rory breathes heavily on the string around him. Firecrew dances onstage with warm fire pieces, then exits carrying the string. The same happens with Oona’s string.)
I didn’t know young fire dragons could breathe fire!
Rory: I can! Come on, let’s get out of here! (Oona and Rory exit. Rory goes first.)
Scene 3: The Locket and The Lies
(Meleodia rushes onstage anxiously and finds a locket on the ground. She holds it closely, gasping.)
Meleodia: Thank goodness I didn’t lose you even more than I already had.
(Meleodia exits, clutching the locket. Emerald enters.)
Emerald: Okay, this could make a good new home! Yeah! (reassuring herself that everything is fine) My bed could go there, and my lamp could go there, and my…photo of my mom could go there. Yeah! Perfect! (sits down, taking deep breaths. Haeon, Daeliki and Sodd hide in the bushes.) It’s all perfect.
Haeon & Daeliki: KID!!!!
Emerald: HUH!!! (gets in a kung-fu position) Wait, who are you guys?
Haeon: We are the head dark warriors of Queen Volcano’s court! I’m Captain Haeon, at your service.
Daeliki: I am Captain Daeliki of the dark court of Queen Volcano. And this here is Sodd.
Sodd: Hola, muchaha.
Haeon: Don’t worry, that’s literally all he says.
Emerald: Did you say you’re from the court of Queen Volcano?
Daeliki: Of course we did! I knew you were an underestimated princess, so I led my team to come recruit you!
Haeon: Ey, I’M the leader!
Emerald: Recruit me for what now? I’m lost.
Sodd: Hola, muchaha.
Haeon: Exactly! Listen to Sodd! You’re lost! Or did you run away? Trust me, being evil is so much better than being a goody-two-shoes like Queen Amethyst.
Emerald: That’s rotten! Queen Amethyst is my mother!
Daeliki: You weren’t her blood child, were you?
Emerald: It’s quite frankly none of your business!
Daeliki: We know she isn’t. You’re searching for your real mom. But the dark court has a secret that you might need!
Sodd: Hola, muchacha!
Emerald: But joining the dark side is what I’ve gone against my entire life!
Haeon: You think so, but when you meet the Lordess of Darkness you’re going to change your mind straight around! We can even…take care of anyone who bothers you!
Emerald: (determined) Alright. Take me to the queen.
(Haeon leads Emerald offstage, followed by Daeliki and Sodd.)
Sodd: (offstage) Adios, muchachos…
Scene 4: In The Ice Hills
(Oona and Rory shiver, climbing up a great slope.)
Oona: Are you sure the ice hills were the quickest route home?
Rory: Yes, but they are kind of a problem.
Oona: And we don’t have any food! How are we going to get home without starving?
Rory: Listen.
Oona: Huh?
Rory: The ice hills are on the way to the Crystal Palace and the Fire Palace…but in the middle is the Spirit Flatland.
Oona: Your point is…?
Rory: *gasp* Look!
(Haeon and Daeliki glide overhead.)
Oona: Hang on. Those aren’t spirits, they’re dragons!
Rory: Doy! We couldn’t see them if they were spirits!
Oona: Heh! You’re pretty funny, you know?
(Haeon and Daeliki float to the ground, posing as elder spirits.)
Haeon: Hello, young travelers!
Daeliki: We are elder spirits! And totally not dark guards pretending to be government officials!
Haeon: Daeliki, otnay elpinghay…
Oona: Ouyay nokay hattay eway tudystay igpay atinlay-
Haeon: Um…never mind that! Here’s some food!
Daeliki: Yep, and it’s totally not poisoned!
Haeon: DAELIKI!!!
Oona: No thank you to that delicious-looking food, but have you two seen an inn around here?
Haeon: No.
Daeliki: Yeah! The Bland Penguin, that’s where we stayed! It’s right over there, around that mountainside. You’ll see a sign.
Rory: Thank you!
Haeon: DAELIKI!!!
(Oona and Rory exit, holding hands and shivering. Haeon slaps his forehead.)
Daeliki: Well, excuse me for being helpful! Wait, were they the enemy?
(Light, bubbly music as Haeon moans, exiting with Daeliki.)
Scene 5: Engaging in Battle
(Bae, Kall and Maela enter the woods, exhausted.)
Bae: Whoo! That was a crazy day!
Kall: I know! I’ve never seen so many dark guards in my life!
Maela: What about last week, Kall?
Kall: Woah, I forgot about last week! THAT was the most dark guards I’ve ever seen in my life.
Bae: What about the week before?
Maela: Bae, there were THREE the week before last!
Bae: I know, Maela, but we saw the evil queen herself!
Kall: Imagine how intense the battles will be if Queen Volcano starts a war!
Maela: I’d better get a raise!
(The bright warriors exit, rubbing their injuries. Rory and Oona enter.)
Oona: Do you think we’re getting any closer to Crystal Palace?
Rory: What’s that light in the distance?
Oona: Oh, Rory, that’s HOME!
Rory: Well, I’m glad we- (Oona rushes over and hugs him.) OH. Oh my.
Oona: Rory, I’m so glad we met. Thanks. (Oona releases the hug.)
Rory: Anything for you!
(The pair hear a river rushing behind them. Firecrew dances behind the trees with waves.)
Oona: It looks a little too far to walk. Let’s see if we can stay by the river tonight!
Rory: Okay!
(Oona and Rory exit.)
Scene 6: The Monsoon
(Oona and Rory plod along into a sandy river shore.)
Rory: This looks like a good place to spend the night, doesn’t it?
Oona: Yes, but I’ve been wondering, what is the urgent message you wanted to tell the queen?
Rory: (inhales) The dark court is launching an attack to kill Queen Amethyst!!!
Oona: What? You tell me this NOW?
Rory: When else did I have?
Oona: Anytime! I need to get home- NOW! And without you- this is all your fault. You should have told me sooner!
Rory: Oona, you’re not being fair right now. I thought you were different!
Oona: I’m being perfectly fair, Prince Rory!
Rory: Well, what are you going to do once you’re home?
Oona: Fight off the warriors as best I can! Alone! Without you!
Rory: I’m coming with you. Queen Amethyst is a dear friend of my family.
Oona: No, you’re not. You caused this.
Rory: I caused nothing!
Oona: Rory, I don’t…I don’t need you anymore! (realizes what she’s just said, gasps.) I mean…you told me what I needed to know, you rescued me, that’s…ugh. This is worthless. (Oona turns and glides away.)
Pause.
Rory: She’s wrong! I’m a prince! I…I’m not…worthless.
*Que: I’m Not Worthless.*
Rory: What’s that? (looks up to the sky)
(Firecrew waves around the stage with ominous dark rainclouds.)
Drat…a storm. (suddenly startled) That’s not a storm…it’s a magical flood!
(Haeon, Daeliki and Sodd enter maliciously, waving their arms to create a spectacular flood.)
*Que: Monsoon Season*
(Haeon, Daeliki and Sodd cackle, and Rory is pushed offstage. The guards exit.)
Scene 7: Emerald Meets Queen Volcano
(Haeon, Daeliki and Sodd lead Emerald onstage to meet Queen Volcano sitting on a valiant, towering throne and looming above her. The guards kneel.)
Emerald: (to Sodd) Should I…?
Sodd: (shakes head) Hola, muchaha.
Queen Volcano: Well, what do we have here?
Haeon: Princess Emerald of the Crystal Court is here to join our ranks!
Daeliki: Cut it out, turd, you told me I could do the talking!
Haeon: Did not!
Queen Volcano: We could sit and act like children all day! (to Emerald) You are Emerald the Beautiful, yes?
Emerald: (bashful) I wouldn’t say beautiful, but yes, that’s me! You’re a rather stunning dragon, Your Majesty! It’s hard to believe that you’re queen of the supposed evil dragons!
Queen Volcano: Aw, well, you should see me in a crown! Aside, I have something to tell you, Emerald. Something that Queen Amethyst would never let you know. Emerald, I am your mother.
Emerald: (smiles) Hi, mom!
*Que: Evil*
(Queen Volcano hugs Emerald, and gestures for Sodd to lead her to her room offstage. She turns around and consults Haeon and Daeliki, sitting atop her throne.)
Queen Volcano: Well? Did you dispose of Oona and her little Prince?
Daeliki: Kinda, but…
Queen Volcano: There shouldn’t be any buts! If there were any buts at all they shouldn’t be up to me to deal with! No kindas, either!
(Haeon snickers at the word “buts”. Daeliki joins in.)
Idiots! You find a common conjunction hilarious! I didn’t mean THAT!
Shut it! Both of you!
Haeon: Well, your grand darkness, we captured the fire dragon prince…but we don’t know where Princess Oona is.
Queen Volcano: (jumps out of her seat to stare them down.) Truthful?
(Haeon and Daeliki nod excessively.)
Daeliki: Meleodia saw ‘em, though!
Queen Volcano: Don’t just stand there! Bring her in!
(The guards rush off and onstage again, bringing Meleodia forward to the queen.)
Meleodia: My queen! Hello! What’s the rush in bringing me in here?
Queen Volcano: Why did you not capture the Prince of Fire and the Princess of Crystals when you had the chance?!
Meleodia: Why, what do you mean? I-
Queen Volcano: They escaped! Don’t deny it! They escaped!
Meleodia: Yes, your evilness, but they- I- my locket!
Haeon: Locket?
Daeliki: Locket?
Queen Volcano: LOCKET? A stupid locket is more important than WORLD DOMINATION? Tell me you’re JOKING!
Meleodia: No, your majesty, I am not. It means the world to me. It’s the only relic I have left of my daughter.
Queen Volcano: (takes off Meleodia’s locket and puts it on)She isn’t your daughter anymore. Capture the prince and the princess!
Meleodia: Or what?
Haeon & Daeliki: Oooooooo!!!
Queen Volcano: Or suffer the consequences!
Meleodia: I’m not threatened! Give me back my locket! And preferably, my daughter, too!
Queen Volcano: No one, I say no one, defies me!
Haeon & Daeliki: Oooooooo!!!
Queen Volcano: (to Haeon and Daeliki) For the last time, shut up!
Meleodia: You’re a tyrant, Volcano, but you’re not as powerful as you think you are!
Queen Volcano: Oh, Meleodia. I’m MORE powerful than I think I am!
*Que: You Should See Me In a Crown.*
(Queen Volcano pulls Meleodia offstage, and Haeon and Daeliki follow.)
Scene 8: Oona Returns Home
(Scene opens in a lavish throne room in Queen Amethyst’s palace. She is pacing the floor when Oona runs in the room.)
Queen Amethyst: Oona! Is that really you? You’re finally home! How worried I was.
Oona: Oh, my, mother. I’m fine. But I have terrible news!
Queen Amethyst: I was going to ask if you had seen Emerald, but my! What is it? (very worried, not strict as usual)Tell me this instant!
Oona: Mother, Queen Volcano’s army is coming! To attack YOU!
Queen Amethyst: Dragon! Is that the important message that Prince Rory was arriving to deliver?
Oona: Well, yes.
Queen Amethyst: Is he alright?
Oona: Um…the truth is, mom…
Queen Amethyst: Oona?
Oona: I left him at a sandy shore in the woods.
Queen Amethyst: That isn’t so bad…unless there was a crop of sugar cane growing near it.
Oona: Ayeeee…there was.
Queen Amethyst: OONA! That is the only area in the Crystal Woods unprotected by the Bright Warriors!
Oona: He’ll be okay, right?
Queen Amethyst: WIth Queen Volcano out and about, he’s probably in her dungeon this minute!
Oona: I don’t mind!
Queen Amethyst: Princess Oona Merideth Crystal of the Crystals, Princess of Quartz and Mineral, you are to save him at once!
Oona: You’re risking my life for his?!
Queen Amethyst: A good queen would do anything to protect those with good hearts. You will do the same. I shall prepare the bright warriors.
Oona: Wait, wait, wait, wait, mom! How will I get past the dark guards?
Queen Amethyst: Blow this horn. It will lead the bright warriors to you. (gives Oona a dragon horn instrument.) This was my grandmother’s horn when she was queen. Good luck, Oona.
(Queen Amethyst exits.)
*Que: I’m Not Worthless (Reprise).*
(Oona exits bravely.)
Scene 9: The Battle Begins
(Emerald, Haeon, Daeliki, Sodd, and Queen Volcano enter in finale costumes.)
Queen Volcano: Captain Haeon, Captain Daeliki and Soldier Sodd! Move out and battle! You will begin the attack on Queen Amethyst the Arrogant!
Sodd: Hola, muchacha!
Emerald: What should I do, mom?
Queen Volcano: Lead the attack, honey!
Emerald: YEEEAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!
(Emerald battle cries, leading Haeon, Daeliki and Sodd in an exit. Queen Volcano sits on her throne.)
Queen Volcano: Bring forth the prisoners!
(Rory and Meleodia enter, chained up.)
Meleodia: I have served in your court loyally for several years! You have no right to imprison me!
Queen Volcano: Years of loyalty match not a second of betrayal.
Rory: Where’s Oona? Who are you? Why is the moth dragon here? Why am I here?
Queen Volcano: Ugh, must you ask all these stupid questions?
Meleodia: Yes, must you?
Rory: I thought you were on my side!
Queen Volcano: Silence! Since you, Prince Rory, were on the way to inform the Crystal Queen of our attack, and you, Meleodia, failed to capture him due to some excuse, YOU BOTH WILL SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES! FOR REAL THIS TIME!
(Firecrew dances onstage with lava props behind Rory and Meleodia, singing out of tune “THE LAVA PIT, THE LAVA PIT!.)
Rory: No! Please! Ack!!!!
Queen Volcano: In the lava pit you go! (to Firecrew) Hurry up, lava! I’m getting mad here!
Meleodia: All I wanted was my own kid!
Rory: Yeah! All she wanted was her own kid! AND I DON’T KNOW WHY I’M GETTING THROWN INTO A LAVA PIT!!
Queen Volcano: Into the lava you go…go on!
(As the lava gets closer to the dragons, Bright Warriors bolt in and tussle with Queen Volcano. Oona runs in, gasping.)
Rory: Oona!
Oona: Rory!
Meleodia: THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR A REUNION! LET’S GO!!!!
(Rory, Oona and Meleodia dash offstage. Haeon, Daeliki and Sodd enter and try to pull the Bright Warriors off of the queen.)
Haeon, Daeliki, Sodd, Bae, Kall, & Maela: FOR THE QUEEN!
Haeon: (gets off the bright warriors.) Wait, which queen?
Bae, Kall, & Maela: THE QUEEN!
Maela: You know, the queen of crystals, goodness and sincere beauty?
Haeon & Daeliki: Nope, that’s not her.
Sodd: FOR LA MUCHACHA!!!!
(As the warriors continue to battle, Queen Volcano squirms away.)
Queen Volcano: Emerald!! (Emerald pants onstage.)
Emerald! There you are! My! Help us fight off these warriors, honey! Where were you?
Emerald: Trying to catch the escaped prisoners!
Queen Volcano: They’ve escaped? Never mind this, go! Go!
(Queen Volcano dives back into the battle, which leads offstage, not lowering in intensity. Emerald dashes around the castle, until she runs into Rory, Oona and Meleodia entering.)
Emerald: Aha!
(Emerald launches a dark net at the dragons, who fall to the ground, ensnared.)
Oona: Emerald? (as in “is that you, Emerald?”)
Rory: Emerald? (as in “who’s Emerald?”)
Meleodia: Gasp….Emeralian?
Emerald: Emeralian? Is that…my name? Who are you?
Meleodia: I’ve found you. I really have.
Emerald: (looks around, then back to Meleodia) Find who?
Meleodia: You, Emerald! Queen Volcano left you in the woods when you were an egg, but Queen Amethyst found you. I knew she would raise you well, and I kept a photo of you in my locket. (holds locket.) And I never got to meet you until now!
Emerald: No! You’re lying…Queen Volcano is my real mom!
Meleodia: Have you ever wondered why you can spin webs?
Emerald: (weirded out) I CAN?!
Meleodia: We’ll talk about it later. But Queen Volcano is a liar! Look at me. Am I your mom?
Emerald: (squints)…Hi, mom. (unsquints, kneeling down and unwrapping the net from Rory, Oona and Meleodia.) Come on, we gotta run!
(They all exit in a hurry as Queen Volcano enters.)
Scene 10: Hola, Muchacha
Queen Volcano: Where is my spear?
(Haeon, Daeliki, and Sodd scurry onstage with the spear and hand it to Queen Volcano together..)
Daeliki: Sodd’s got an idea.
Queen Volcano: Sodd? Seriously?
Sodd: Si, muchaha!
Queen Volcano: Are you two serious?
Haeon: See, he’s gonna try and trick Oona so that we can sneak off and capture the queen!
Queen Volcano: Sodd. Trick Oona. Really? SODD?! TRICK OONA?!
Daeliki: Don’t worry, my queen, we’ve got this. He can really sing!
(Looking very confused, Queen Volcano exits with her guards, who giggle. Sodd enters, chasing after Oona.)
Sodd: Wait, don’t go, muchaha!
Oona: Did you just talk?
Sodd: Oona, my princess, you see, muchaha…
Oona: I thought you could only say “hola, muchaha”!
Sodd: *sighs* Well, muchaha…(whips out guitar/ukulele and “plays” and sings to musical track)
*Que: Hola, Muchaha*
(Sodd looks around and realizes that Oona has exited. He sighs, exiting the opposite direction.)
Scene 11: Break-in to the Throne Room
(Oona enters with Rory, Meleodia, Emerald, Maela, Kall and Bae behind her, in that order. Haeon, Daeliki and Sodd rush on from the other side.)
Haeon: Prepare to be DESTRUCTED!
Oona & Rory: Bring it on!
(Meleodia growls and gets into a battle stance. The other dragons do the same.)
Haeon: On second thought, no need for violence! We can…
Oona: No.
Daeliki: Have mercy?
Rory: No can do.
Sodd: Please, muchaha?
Emerald: Don’t “muchacha” me, Sodd.
(Choir sings “DANCE FIGHT!” and the dragons unleash their moves. Queen Volcano storms in.)
Queen Volcano: Idiots! Don’t just dance there! Actually fight them!
Haeon: ACTUALLY, you treat us like buffoons!
Daeliki: Yeah!
Sodd: We’re siding with the muchachas! And for real this time, muchacha!
Queen Volcano: I don’t care! I can defeat all of you!
(Queen Volcano raises her arms. Daeliki and Sodd disappear under a geyser burst of lava. They can help the props dance.)
Haeon: No! Daeliki! Sodd!
Queen Volcano: That’s better! Now, who’s next?
(Queen Volcano looks at Meleodia.)
Meleodia: Emeralian!
(Meleodia disappears under the lava with Haeon following.)
Queen Volcano: Emerald, destroy the rest!
Emerald: You’re a liar! Meleodia is my real mother!
Queen Volcano: Is she now? Quite unfortunate for you, isn’t it, Emeralian?
(Queen Volcano flicks a finger downward, and Emerald sinks into the lava, which slowly rises up to Rory’s feet.)
Rory: Horrid!
Oona: Volcano! I can’t even begin to describe this!
Queen Volcano: Why, thank you! How would you like to be there in the lava, hm?
Oona: You’ll never take me alive!
(The lava swallows Oona.)
Rory: OONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Scene 12: The Final Conquest
Queen Volcano: Well, it looks like I’m free to go and take over the Crystal Empire. Who knows, maybe I’ll conquer the Fire Kingdom as well? So soon as their prince is gone, they’ll be too distracted to save their kingdom. Too bad for them.
Rory: Give Oona back!
Queen Volcano: I couldn’t do that if I wanted to. She’s taken a bath in molten lava!
Rory: I swear by Dragon, you will be revenged!
Queen Volcano: You may, but I’d never let you out of this room alive. Lava haunts! DESTROY THE PRINCE!
(Everyone in the lava cackles, getting closer to Rory, but suddenly, Queen Amethyst breaks into the room and engages in a cats’-game spear fight with Queen Volcano.)
Queen Amethyst: Volcano! What have you done?
Queen Volcano: Only destroyed your daughters Oona and Emerald, a few of my betrayed allies, and-oh, did you know that Emerald joined my ranks?
Queen Amethyst: No…everything you say is a lie. That…that can’t be true. She’s still alive!
Queen Volcano: That, my dear, would be a TRUE lie.
Queen Amethyst: They were truly wonderful…I wish that I had treated Emerald better…
Queen Volcano: It’s too bad that they’re mine now!
Queen Amethyst: Don’t fool yourself that you’re powerful!
Queen Volcano: I don’t need to; I know that!
Queen Amethyst: No, you’re egotistical!
Queen Volcano: I may be, but I know that I’ve won.
(Queen Volcano flings Queen Amethyst wayward into the lava, and wills Rory in as well. She laughs maniacally. But quick as the wind, Oona crushes out of the flow and pulls Rory, Meleodia, Emerald, Queen Amethyst, the bright warriors and the dark guards out as persevering music plays.)
Oona: You didn’t know that this prince and princess are fireproof!
Queen Volcano: What? HOW?
Rory: Oona…
Oona: Rory…I’m sorry.
(All exit but Queen Volcano, whom the last to exit, Emerald, pushes into the lava, never to be seen again.)
Queen Volcano: Nooooooooo!!! Why does it always have to be the bad guuuuuuuuy?
Scene 13: Happily Ever After
(Oona, Rory, Emerald, Meleodia, Queen Amethyst, Haeon, Daeliki, Sodd, Bae, Kall, and Maela enter slowly but happily. )
Bae: Whoo, what a day!
Kall: I’ll say!
Maela: Yeah!
Queen Amethyst: Now, now, today was completely worth it! We’re all safe! More or less.
Haeon: Totally!
Daeliki: Entirely!
Sodd: Mhm!
Haeon: Sodd, something seems off about you. Oh, I know! You got a haircut! That’s it, right?
Sodd: Nope! I can talk now without saying muchacha after everything! Ain’t that something?
Daeliki: That’s definitely something, bro! Let’s party!
(Haeon, Daeliki and Sodd skip in a circle happily together.)
Emerald: What do we suppose that we do now, mom?
Meleodia: Well, I dunno! Ammie?
Queen Amethyst: Do not call me Ammie, and I really don’t know what we should do. Prince Rory?
Rory: (excited) How about a banquet at the Fire Castle?
ALL: YES!
Maela: Boy, that sounds delightful! Let’s go, everybody!
(Everyone but Oona and Rory stampede offstage hungrily.)
Oona: Rory…I’m REALLY sorry for what I said at the riverbank. I didn’t give a proper apology earlier.
Rory: I forgive you.
Oona: Really?
Rory: That’s what I do!
(Rory hugs Oona, who hugs back. They embrace gladly until they hear a church bell.)
Oona: Welp, time for dinner!
Rory: Yum, I’m starved.
Oona: I can’t wait! I’ve NEVER had Fire Dragonian fried eggs before! I hear they fry them with their fire breath!
Rory: It’s true, we totally do!
(All enter.)
ALL: I guess…THAT’S THE END!
*Que: Emerald’s Homecoming*
(All exit. Director Zoey enters.)
Scene 14: The Dragon Play
Director Zoey: I’m allowing this time for my amazing cast and crew to do whatever they want for the audience to see!
(Director Zoey exits, allowing chaos ensue onstage as the entire cast raves and exclaims. Afterward, ALL cast and crew, choir, and helpers with the show enter and bow together. All exit.)
